Katarzyna Jaśko gave a presentation at the Kraków Conference on Misinformation and Polarization, held on 13–15 May 2026.

During the conference, she presented findings from research on the perception of social norms and political opinions. Based on studies conducted in the United States, Poland, and Brazil, the project examined how accurately people perceive the average views and distribution of opinions in society across a wide range of political issues. The results showed that the perceptions of both societal average opinions and their distributions are surprisingly accurate, although people tended to slightly overestimate the prevalence of right-wing beliefs. The findings also suggest that actual polarization and its perceptions vary substantially depending on the issue and should not be reduced to a single overall measure.
